Why are we talking about an Astri\u00e9 flour mill?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Andr\u00e9 and Pierre Astri\u00e9 are the inventors of the famous \u2018Moulin Astri\u00e9\u2019, and gave their discovery their name. That’s why the mill is called that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does an Astri\u00e9 flour mill work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u2018The mill is made up of a fixed lower stone wheel (known as the dormant wheel) and a rotating upper wheel. There is a hole in the middle of the upper millstone to allow the seeds to pass through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rotation of the grinding wheel gradually moves the grain from the centre to the periphery, crushing it little by little, before the surfaces, which become closer and softer, lead to the unbroken husks slipping off and being removed\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the same operation, all the substances released are intimately mixed, including the germ, despite its slightly oily and tenacious consistency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does the Astri\u00e9 brothers find?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
